Salavat Fidai is a passionate artist beside his incredible talent in various art forms.
Salavat Fidai was born in a small village at the foot of Ural Mountains in Russia. Being raised in a family of art teachers, Salavat had been interested in the visual art since childhood.
As he grew up, he didn’t believe that he can make a living out of creative skill. So, he entered law faculty, graduated and worked for more than 20 years in trading companies. Salavat was extremely successful. He even had a senior position in a prestigious company.
But there was something missing. His successful career could not satisfy him. And there came a turning point in his life.
He then bravely left his job to chase his dream in art.
In early 2015, Salavat returned to his forgotten passion of carving. He discovered a new medium which is graphite pencil.
Graphite is an extremely brittle material and often break during process, but that is the interesting part for Salavat. He find it exciting and suspenseful.
According to Salavat,
“The process of carving sculptures for me is like meditation. While working I listen to instrumental music, it helps me to concentrate and clears some space in my mind for inspiration. I have to work at night, when the whole family is asleep, so there are no interruptions.”
Now, Salavat Fidai is a well-known artist with works exhibit around the world.
