When someone said action figure, most of us would associate it with superhero characters such as Superman and Batman, or characters from Japanese anime like those from Dragon Ball and One Piece.
It’s quite normal since almost all of the action figures being sold everywhere are of such popular fiction stories.
They are so popular, especially among kids and teenagers, not just due to the interesting stories, but the action figures are fun, cute and attractive.
This gave an idea to David Beaulieu, the man behind ‘Today Is Art Day’, to create action figures of famous art heroes in similar style.
Today Is Art Day, based in Quebec, Canada, was started in November 2014. It was initially a movement through social media such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to share stories about artists or their artworks to its 60,000+ followers.
To make art and its history more attractive and fun for everyone, David launched Vincent van Gogh action figure in January 2017 through Kickstarter, which was successfully crowdfunded.
Since then, the company continues to grow its innovative product line to its fans.
Today is Art Day now has five selections of action figures, including Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Leonardo da Vinci, Johannes Vermeer and Rembrandt.
