When I first look at the illustration works of Chong Fei Giap, I have a mixed impressions of both nostalgic and futuristic. The collection looks like a cross between Japanese manga/anime and classic South East Asian cityscape but illustrated in the science fiction scenes.
Simply said, they look incredibly cool!
Digital artist Chong Fei Giap was born in 1987 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. He was graduated from The One Academy in 2008 and currently based in Kuala Lumpur.
His artistic inspiration is coming from Imperial Boy who created Tekkonkinkreet, as well as other concept artists, Theo Prins and Ian McQue.
Fei Giap co-founded Running Snail Studio, a creative illustration studio and Loka Made, a creative brand that creates and introduces the concept of local elements.
Beside his commercial hustle and bustle, Fei Giap likes to share his knowledge by teaching at a local art college in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
Fei Giap also self-published his scenery project, Fantascene in a collectible artbook. The artbook includes his personal and commercial works. It also shares his working process, basic sketches, 3D renderings and story behind the artworks.
You can order the artbook at Loka Made.
